I want to run the game on a Mac
We have sporadically tested Virtual U on Mac's running Connectix's Virtual PC product. Please be aware we don't offer support for this other than through postings on our Web site. Our recommendation for Mac's that will use VU is below:
  • Requires a minimum 400MHz native G3 or G4 Macintosh with a CD-ROM drive
  • To run Windows 98 or Windows ME as your OS Virtual PC Requires 1 GB Free HD Space, 128 MB RAM (OS9), 196 MB RAM (OSX)
  • To run Windows 2000* or Windows XP* as your OS Virtual PC Requires 2 GB Free HD Space, 192 MB RAM (OS9), 256 MB RAM (OSX)
  • We recommend 800Mhz or faster machines
I get an error when I try to initially run Virtual U or it doesn't run at all.

The most likely cause of this is a need to install DirectX drivers for your Windows OS.

Please visit Microsoft's DirectX download site to acquire the proper drivers.

On Windows 2000 or XP the screen flickers considerably or blacks out entirely.

Windows 2000/ME/XP users might experience haphazard compatibility concerning graphics. Our testing indicates that VU does operate on these versions of Windows, but if you experience graphical display problems you should upgrade your system to the latest version of DirectX from Microsoft. Any system updates and service packs will ensure you are running the latest version of your graphic card's drivers.

If you experience further problems with graphics display please see our technical support faq.

Microsoft offers an excellent upgrade service via its Windows Updates service that helps with installing such upgrades. This includes graphics card drivers, although we also recommend you check with your graphics card or system vendor.

I can't find my saved game files

When Virtual U originally looks for saved game files, it looks in the default directory from which VU originates on your system. If you have been emailed a saved game or downloaded a saved game from the Web we recommend that you make sure to save it to your default Virtual U directory. This is usually c:\virtual u or c:\program files\virtual u

If you have been emailed a saved game, or downloaded a saved game from the Web we recommend that you make sure to save it to your default Virtual U directory. This is usually c:\virtual u or c:\program files\virtual u
