William Massy
Designer of Virtual U

As the designer and founder of Virtual U, William Massy is also our lead seminar trainer. Massy holds a Ph.D. in economics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and has spent nearly 30 years at Stanford University, where in addition to being a professor at the the graduate school of business he was also a university administration and served as vice president and chief financial officer for the university.

In addition to being the designer of Virtual U, Massy is president of the Jackson Hole Higher Education Group, a consulting firm he founded in 1996 that advises universities, foundations, and governmental agencies in the United States, and throughout the world.

J. Douglas Toma
Associate Chair, Higher Education Management

In addition to teaching Higher Education Management at UPenn, J. Douglas Toma is part of Penn's prestigious Institute for Research in Higher Education (IRHE) and has been involved with the Virtual U project for over a year. He has demonstrated Virtual U at several annual meetings and conferences including this years NACUBO annual convention in New York City.

Joshua B. Powers

Dr. Powers is one of the earliest adopters of Virtual U for classroom use and has also run independent workshops on Virtual U for administrative staff. He has invented several great methods for orientating new users, and was a Beta tester for version 2.0.

Ben Sawyer
Virtual U Project Team

Ben Sawyer is a key member of the project development team that directs the overall Virtual U program. An published author and noted expert in interactive development and computer gaming, Mr. Sawyer is the co-founder of Digitalmill.

Based in Portland, ME, Digitalmill works with unique organizations and individuals on emerging technologies and novel applications of technology in general. Sawyer has two plus years of experience playing and demonstrating Virtual U and has demoed the product at for private client s, and at major conferences.
